Today is International Women’s Day and the theme is ‘Choose To Challenge' as we can all choose to challenge to help create a more inclusive world. To celebrate, we spoke to some women at AND who are driving our business forward to find out what the day means to them. See what they said here >> https://bit.ly/3ejqMRS Let's all #ChooseToChallenge together.
Last week, we completed another round of ‘Introduction to Web Development’ courses with Code First Girls. Eight clubs from across AND were involved and we were able to upskill 247 women in the basics of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and Javascript. At our core, we want to help close the world's digital skills gaps and we're delighted to share that 83% of the participants said they can see themselves having a career in tech after the course. It’s amazing to see how this initiative has grown over the last 12 months, with AND Digital having upskilled 366 women in total. We'd like to say a big thank you to all the ANDis who have got involved in the initiative over the past year.
This week, we're celebrating Pride at AND, and the theme for this year is #ProudToBeMe. Although many Pride events have unfortunately been cancelled due to COVID-19, our network of LGBT+ Champions have curated a collection of virtual events for our ANDis. So, throughout the week, we'll be sharing these virtual events and content with you our LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook pages.
Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme is 'kindness'. In times like these, when the world feels upside down, being kind has never been more important and can be key to turning things around. We’re committed to supporting the wellbeing of our people, so each day this week we’re shining a light on an area of mental health that may be more prominent as a result of COVID-19. We’re also sharing ways to support each area with our people, and encouraging them to show kindness at a time when it matters more than ever. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for updates.
We're delighted to announce that we've moved up five places in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work for, meaning we now rank 10th for 2020. Read what it means to us.
This week we’ve been celebrating and discussing this year’s #IWD theme, #EachforEqual. On Monday, we tackled how we can enable each other. We asked leading women at AND about their values, mentors and decisions they’ve taken that have allowed them to build a successful career in tech. Tuesday, a panel discussed various aspects of 'having it all' and shared experiences of being a parent, balancing a career and everything in between. Wednesday, ANDis from the North and South, as well as Tricia Driver, a consultant specialising in diversity and inclusion, talked about allyship and how to enable women around us. Thursday, Tom Schuller shared his perspective on why a woman's level of education and skill are not commonly reflected in the workplace. The session then discussed how we can overcome this gap. Why not comment and share your thoughts on these topics?
We've just found out we have maintained our 3-star accreditation with Best Companies for extraordinary workplace engagement. We now have to wait until February to find out where we will come in the 2020 Top 100.
We think the feedback from Horizons 19 - our flagship learning conference - speaks for itself: “Still reeling from an incredible #ANDHorizons conference in Leeds. I saw some fantastic ANDis, true embodiments of our values, delivering quality content to help us expand our minds and think about the future.” “Horizons was worth the wait. What an incredible day. I was absolutely buzzing on the way home, so excited by the sessions I attended. I often get teased for how enthusiastic I get about AND Digital... but the fact is, they’re such a brilliant company to work for. People are at the forefront, without a doubt.” “Mind blown at #ANDHorizons! The calibre of the speakers was extraordinarily high and their content was of the highest standard.” Check out our photos to see what it was like, or head over to LinkedIn or Twitter and follow #ANDHorizons to find out more about the day.
This year will see AND spin up the third iteration of our flagship learning conference, now known as Horizons. Find out what Horizons is, why it matters - and some exciting developments this year >> http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM0sD
Yesterday marked a big day at AND - the opening of our brand new office in Halifax. It’s our fifth office to open in less than five years, and we’ve already welcomed our first 10 new starters - but the growth doesn’t stop there. Over the next year, we’ll be adding over 100 new tech and digital jobs across West Yorkshire, so watch this space for more information.
