Yesterday at the Broadcast (MBI) Summit, Channel 4 announced the launch of a new proof-of-concept development fund to back big, original British unscripted formats. The fund will greenlight three to five ideas, offering £100,000 each to support substantial development – giving independent producers the space to properly test and refine ambitious new returnable formats, with the ambition of taking at least one project to full series. The fund will be overseen by Channel 4’s Head of Commissioning Development Art Sejdiu and Senior Commissioning Editor Vivienne Molokwu, as part of Channel 4’s ongoing commitment to investing early in bold ideas and supporting the UK’s independent production community.
