Last week journalist Rosamund Urwin from The Times asked Dimensions CEO, Steve Scown, 'what will a 'no-deal Brexit mean for the social care workforce?' Speaking about our colleagues who would need to apply for a settled status, he said. "The take-up has been extremely low, less than 7% and we've committed to make it as easy as possible and to swallow the costs." Some of our EU colleagues, especially those who provide live-in care, travel between the UK and their EU homes. Steve added, "we value every single one of our colleagues, whatever their nationality and we will continue to support anyone who works for us to continue working for us after Brexit. We hope now that a immigration exemption rule for social care workers does get the green light". Read the full article here: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM4lW
With headlines dominated by negative news surrounding social care work, Shannon, one of our support workers in Cardiff is on a mission to change national perceptions of social care: "I think there are very few jobs where you can really say you're directly supporting someone to live a fulfilling life. I think that's incredibly special" A lot of people don't realise that support work is a career with real development opportunities, it's not just a job with no progression. 88% of Dimensions' support workers have said that support work is more skilled than people realise, and I couldn't agree more. We all have a life, we just help people to live it. Having any kind of disability makes you no less of a person." Read the full article here > http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMeM0

We are delighted to launch for a second year, the Learning Disability and Autism Leaders' List. Last year our inspirational Leaders' stories were read thousands of times over, online and in national publications like The Guardian, Happiful and The i, showcasing the incredible work that people with learning disabilities and/or autism have done in their local communities, in the arts, in the media and more! Supporting the 2019 Leaders' List is award winning actor and writer, Sally Phillips, she has said "The wonderful list will, once again, highlight the remarkable achievements and contributions that people with learning disabilities and autism make to their communities. “This year’s Leaders will help change public perceptions and inspire others to dream big – reminding us that everyone can make a difference.” Anybody with a learning disability and/or autism can enter themselves or be nominated by someone else. Entries close on 26th July. You can enter or make a nomination online >> http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vME7M
We're delighted to announce that Dimensions has been officially recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces in the ‘super large’ category by the Great Place to Work Institute. This follows last year’s colleague survey and a comprehensive audit of our organisational culture, including our management policies and practices. We're proud to be one of very few social care organisations that are members of the Great Places To Work programme and even prouder to be the only healthcare provider listed in the 'super large' category, alongside major organisations and household names such as, Mars UK, GAP, Cisco and Hilton. Thank you to all our colleagues who have made and continue to make Dimensions a great place to work 👏 Watch a short animation and find out more about why our colleagues think we're a Great Place to Work on our website > http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMPrI #WeAreDimensions
