Ben has been a colleague with us for nine years, progressing all the way up to Store Coach level. 'Our Colchester store is currently going through a refurbishment and results have already exceeded targets even with the disruption. I have also overseen the recruitment for our new Pausa Kitchen Café proposition which has exceeded expectations. One of my favourite parts of the role is looking for opportunities to improve and develop my team so they have a greater understanding of trading a successful store.'
This is Charlotte, one of our Digital Degree Apprentices. Wherever you are in our business, we want to give colleagues the opportunity to feel empowered every day. This is something that Charlotte experienced first-hand. 'I was able to lead on a project to create student starter kits, which included a kitchen starter pack ready for university. I was able to use my previous knowledge and the skills I picked up working in the digital team to create a great proposition for students. Leading this project helped me grow my confidence and helped me learn about the different complexities that come with leading a project, which makes me more confident about leading projects in the future.’ To find out more about opportunities to join us as an apprentice, head on over to our careers site and search 'apprenticeship'
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we are introducing some of our apprentices and sharing their stories. This is Polly, who joined us on a Digital Degree Apprenticeship. What has been most important to her is developing her skills and having the time out to keep up with her studies. 'During each digital rotation we spent six months in each area to ensure we gained the fullest experience. More so, you get designated time off to focus on study. Across my apprenticeship, I've developed lifelong and tangible skills as well as learning the importance of being able to adapt. We want to find as many ways as possible to empower our colleagues everyday, with opportunities to progress, grow, and to help local communities with charity days for both individuals and wider teams. Our Quality & Sourcing and #Sustainability teams recently volunteered at Leicester South Food Bank for their charity day. They chose to volunteer here due to the increased demand for food parcels with the cost of living crisis, meaning the food bank distribution centre has needed extra help to fulfil the need. The team packed over 200 parcels over two days. A huge well done team Quality & Sourcing and Sustainability!
Dunelm has delivered a strong performance reporting total sales of £478m up 18% year-on-year and 48% higher than three years ago, pre-pandemic.
This is our third #DeliveringJoy campaign and thanks to the generosity and support of our customers and colleagues, this year we've been able to support 700 local community causes with the donation of more than 60,000 gifts - triple the amount we were able to deliver last year. A heartwarming end to what has been a challenging year for many ♥️
We've been asking some of our colleagues what their happy place at Dunelm is. From feeling part of a supportive team, to helping people, to feeling empowered to take opportunities, there are so many reasons why colleagues love working for us and stay with us.
