From us at Elsevier, this is wishing everyone Happy #AdaLovelaceDay. A true pioneer for her time, Ada Lovelace recognised the potential of pattern-finding as a means of problem-solving, something we would today know as algorithms. At Elsevier, technology and innovation are key to our growth and competitive advantage. We have a number of talented women in STEM, they are our own modern-day Ada Lovelace. Join us to celebrate all of them too. #AdaLovelaceDay #WomenInSTEM #DiversityAwarenessMonth

Using agile technology to accelerate Covid research publication. Elsevier colleagues in technology, data science and operations worked together to speed up the submissions process for COVID-19 papers. When the scale of the coronavirus first became apparent in February, researchers immediately set out to analyze the disease. That resulted in a fast-growing stream of submissions to Elsevier’s editorial systems. With the global situation growing ever more urgent, that research needed to be prioritized by editors and reviewers to ensure they could be published quickly while still undergoing the robust peer-review that characterises articles published on ScienceDirect.
Want to read the Nobel Prize winners’ most cited papers published by Elsevier throughout their careers? Elsevier is honouring the 2020 Nobel Laureates with free access to their research. The Nobel Prize call, usually made by the Secretary-General of the Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute or the Royal Swedish Academy of the Sciences in the early-morning hours, is a long-standing tradition that marks what will be a life-changing event for the researcher on the other end of the line. For those who have dedicated their lives to transforming science and the world around them, there can be nothing more edifying – and surprising – than receiving that call...
23 years across 4 sites and 3 continents: these are the 3 reasons why my work at Elsevier is not âjust a jobâ. "I had already accepted that I was not going to be the person who cured cancer; but in that moment, I wondered if I could help those doctors and researchers who did have a shot at finding a cure. Could I help authors get their papers published quickly and seamlessly so they could focus on research, not dissemination? Could I help researchers and practitioners easily find the knowledge they needed? Could I help journal editors, who put their reputations on the line for their journals, consistently produce high-quality articles and issues?" #research #elsevier #discoverelsevier
