At Nucleus, we're very proud of the inclusive culture we create, where our people feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work. Pride is all about raising visibility of LGBTQ+ people and challenges they continue to face around the world. This year, we spent the month of June amplifying our LGBTQ+ people, educating ourselves on issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, signposting to resources and creating a joyous celebration on all things Pride! The support of our LGBTQ+ colleagues and the LGBTQ+ community is part of our culture, and we’ll continually strive to ensure that Nucleus is an inclusive environment where people can be their authentic selves. It’s not a tick box exercise; inclusion and diversity is embedded in our culture and everything we do. Visit our website to find out more about how we're embracing our values > nucleusfinancial.com
Last month we embraced Neurodiversity Celebration week. This is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. Throughout the week we shared personal stories from some of our people on their experiences with neurodiversity and learnt how we can all be more aware and supportive of our neurodiverse peers. To round out the week, we welcomed Theo Smith, who’s a leading global neurodiversity advocate and author. Theo gave an energetic and inspirational presentation on the many talents of being neurodiverse. His experience and knowledge have resonated with lots of our people and hugely increased our understanding of neurodiversity. This years' International Women’s Day theme was embracing equity. Our team hosted talks on equity, diversity and inclusion, and the differences between the three. Many get them mixed up, so we like to use an analogy around people taking part in a race. Inclusion is asking everyone to take part. Equality is giving everyone size 7 trainers to run the race – they may fit for some people, and they finish the race, but some struggle past the starting line as the shoes don’t fit, making it hard to run. Equity is asking everyone their shoe size, providing them with something customised for their needs and enabling them to cross the finish line. At Nucleus we focus on providing our people with ‘the right shoes’ to do their role. We’ve taken advantage of our scale to make some real changes and to address equity in the business, like the cost-of-living crisis with special assistance payments, introducing an open pantry and sharing our success with bonus payments and pay rises on a sliding scale, seeing our lower paid people get the highest % increase. At Nucleus, we show our heart. It's one of three values that underpin our culture. Instinctively we show our hearts every day, we celebrate our successes, we make the right choices and we’re kind to others. We take this approach not just with our peers, but also with the advisers we work with and their clients, to become best loved platform. We care about the communities we operate in and our people are passionate about good causes. Recently we raised over £2k to help the Turkey and Syria earthquake relief, with match funding from our charity committee, and we donated £10k to kick-start the Rock for Ukraine gig performed by Consumer Duty, a band made up of financial advisers. As well as all that, some of our people literally walked through fire to support the Salisbury Hospice charity, raising over £1k! To top it off, February was 'heart month' and we’re taking this opportunity to roll out CPR training to our people, ensuring we will always be ready to care for our peers in a crisis.
