At Tesco we have no time for waste, so we’ve produced a new range of cold-pressed juices using wonky fruit and vegetables that may have otherwise gone unused. “These delicious juices are the latest way that we are helping tackle food waste by ensuring as much of the crop as possible gets used. Two years ago, Maria Simpson from our Brigg Superstore in Lincolnshire had a brilliant idea. She suggested giving free fruit to children to eat during shopping trips as an alternative to sweets. Today, that one idea has grown into a nationwide project, we now offer “Free Fruit for Kids” in over 800 stores across the country. We’ve given over 50 million pieces of free fruit away to kids since 2016. That’s an incredible achievement, and it means literally millions of children have had a healthy, free piece of fruit from Tesco in the last two years.
