As part of our drive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, we’re reducing our carbon emissions by making our iconic fleet of vehicles efficient, reliable and sustainable. With 100 new electric vehicles (EVs) in Paris — and a goal of over 600 across Europe by the end of 2024 — we can better serve our customers in congested cities. With a long range of 142 miles per charge and a smoother driving experience, we’re looking after our drivers and the planet in one fell swoop!
2023 was marked by a lot of major wins and accolades. We bagged more than 70 awards globally for innovation, reliability, service and DEI. These included The Best Customer Service, Most Admired, Most Innovative, Greatest Workplace for Women, Best Employer for Diversity and more. FT Magazine also acknowledged our CEO Carol B. Tomé on its annual Woman of the Year list for her steadfast, consistent leadership during the pandemic and commitment to creating an inclusive, values-based culture. Rita began her career at UPS Nigeria in the dynamic world of logistics. After relocating to Camden, she has been a Preload Supervisor and Operational Management Specialist and now holds a Business Manager position. For Rita, the support and guidance she received from her managers as she rose through the business was influential. One major success was her work on our Quality Validation Assessment, leading to an incredible impact on the safety and wellbeing of all UPSers. A pioneer, team player and powerhouse, Rita inspires everyone to grow and thrive at UPS! Her advice to anyone wishing to join UPS? "Opportunities here are boundless. Embrace your courage and step into the unknown. Don't fear failure — see it as a stepping-stone to growth."
Michelle wanted a role that would work around her family commitments and applied to work with us as a Preload Sorter in Southampton. She intended to stay for only six months, but she is still here and loving her role eight years later! Michelle gets great satisfaction from doing her job well, and she's delighted that more women have joined the Operations teams. This positive change is all down to more and more women realising their capabilities in a traditionally male-orientated sector — and she's glad she can play her part in encouraging their progression and enthusiasm! As she puts it: "If I can do a physically demanding job as a 5'1" grandmother, anyone can!"

At UPS, we’re committed to putting sustainability at the heart of our operations. A prime example is the introduction of our eQuad deliveries, which help our drivers navigate congested cities and zero-emission zones on routes where cars and trucks can’t go. In Cambridge, we’re using four-wheeled electric-assisted cycles to deliver what matters to our customers while looking after the environment. And that’s not all — we’re leading more than 30 similar projects in other European cities!
We’re proud to be the first official global logistics partner of Liverpool Football Club. Born a Triplet, He Was Always Part of a Team. That’s Why UPS Was a Perfect Fit John Coliton wasn’t thinking of a career when a UPS recruiter visited Henry Ford College in 1984 - he just needed a job. He showed up in a suit – and was still wearing it when the recruiter sent him to the hub that night. “They wanted me to work that night,” he said. “I changed into work clothes and came back and started loading trucks. It’s been a great career ever since.” Coliton worked his way up from package loader to driver to UPS’s Detroit operations; to HR Director in Virginia, Chicago and San Francisco. He’s retiring as Global Director of HR Compliance and Employee Relations, responsible for 528,000 employees around the world. “It’s fulfilling,” he said. “People come to you with issues and you help resolve them. It feels amazing that UPS has the faith in me to put the right policies in place.” Coliton was born in Detroit in '64 as a triplet, with a sister two years older. He and wife have four grown children. “I’ve always had a team around me,” he said. “I think that’s why UPS was the perfect fit.
