Our finance team is leading the business through an exciting transformation agenda. Hetal Desai joined the business at the end of 2020 and we caught up with him to talk through to how he's finding life at Utility Warehouse so far - and what's in store for 2021.
We recently spoke to some of our Home-Based Customer Service team and asked them how they were finding their new roles with UW. Here's what they had to say.
Last year, we created the UW Foundation and one of our aims is to plant a tree for every new customer who signs up for all of our services. Our aim is to plant 100,000 trees over the next 12 months, creating the UW Woodland in Bryn Arw. These trees - forming a woodland that will be the size of 70 football pitches - will absorb 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Our CEO recently visited Bryn Arw to plant the first of our 100,000 trees.
Our first ever Home Based Customer Service team has been with us for just over three months now. And it's like they've always been here. We caught up with Jules, one of the first hires in the team, to find our more about how she has settled in and what it's like to work for UW. NHS staff and volunteers are working tirelessly and making huge personal sacrifices to help fight coronavirus, and UW wants to support them. The UW Foundation, set up at the beginning of April, was created to help our Partners and employees to fundraise for causes close to their hearts. We’re contributing to NHS Charities Covid-19 appeal to fund wellbeing packs for staff and volunteers, and offer longer term mental health support for people affected by coronavirus, amongst other things. As a whole, the UW Foundation helps the environment, disadvantaged groups and it supports the NHS to fight coronavirus. And, the Foundation matches every pound raised by Partners and employees, doubling the overall contribution.
In these uncertain times, where our priority is to continue delivering a key service to our customers whilst protecting our employees, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate our inspirational leader Andrew Lindsay. Andrew, our CEO, has continued to guide UW through this unprecedented time with optimism and clarity.
