We are very proud to say we are now an Award Winning HR Team! Well done to everyone who helped us achieve this - it was a real team effort.
At easyJet, we are absolutely committed to giving equal pay and equal opportunity for women and men. Our CEO, Johan Lundgren shared has voluntarily taken a pay cut to match the salary of his predecessor, Carolyn McCall. We asked Johan to share the reasons behind his decision and he said: “I want that to apply to everybody across the airline and so to show my personal commitment I have asked the Board to reduce my pay to match that of Carolyn’s when she was at easyJet. I also want to affirm my own commitment to address the gender imbalance in our pilot community which drives our overall gender pay gap. We’ve already gone further than other airlines in trying to attract more women into a career as a pilot. I want us not just to hit our target that 20% of our new pilots should be female by 2020 but to go further than this in the future.” Johan has made a donation to UNICEF (our charity partner) representing the two months of his pay at the previous amount.
Tom Hetherington, Learning and Development Coordinator at easyJet, is today holding a 24 hour indoor rowing event to raise money for Unicef, the world’s leading children’s organisation. The fundraising event for Unicef will take place at London Luton Airport, where Tom is attempting to break the world record for longest distance rowed in 24 hours. 11 other easyJet employees, and a number of Tom’s friends will also be attempting the challenge of keeping a rowing machine moving continuously for 24 hours, by taking it in turns to row alongside Tom. The team are rowing the equivalent of London to Paris!
