Its Black History Month in the UK and with this year’s theme ‘Proud to Be’, we’ve been hearing from our colleagues about what makes them proud to be who they are. With the first flight departing today, we’re proud to announce that a total of 42 flights we operate from Gatwick Airport are to be powered by a 30 percent Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ blend, reducing the flights CO2 emissions by up to 70 tonnes. This important milestone marks the first time a departing flight at Gatwick has used sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and is also the first usage by any of our services from the UK. We’re committed alongside all parties involved - international aviation fuel supplier Q8Aviation, Gatwick Airport and Neste to reach an ultimate industry goal - reaching net zero emissions by 2050. #easyjet #sustainableaviation
We're excited to announce that we've marked the official start of work on the build of our new maintenance hangar at Berlin Brandenburg airport with a groundbreaking ceremony. The event was attended by Stephan Erler, Country Manager for Germany and our partners in this project, BER - Berlin Brandenburg Airport were represented by their CEO, Engelbert Lütke Daldrup. Jörg Steinbach, Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of Brandenburg also attended, along with other local stakeholders and media representatives. We’re pleased to announce that as easyJet holidays we’ve become a member of the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council). The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) manages the GSTC Criteria, the global baseline standards for sustainable travel and tourism; as well as acting as an international body providing assurance for sustainable tourism certification in three key subsectors of tourism – hotels and accommodations, tour operators and agencies, and in destination.
