      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Curve

      Interview

Summary: Absolutely not recommended - RUN AWAY. I was following Curve for a while when I decided to apply through their website. After submitting my CV I received the usual confirmation e-mail, together with a voucher to try the product. I tried the voucher and it didn't work, I should've interpret it as a sign. Joking aside, some time after (several weeks), a recruiter gets in touch with me and we start the process. I have to admit that the recruiter did an amazing job and I never had such a great experience before. I get invited to a series of calls with other senior engineers: Interview 1: Senior Analytics Engineer + Senior Data Engineer - both fairly new to the company, the questions are focused on previous projects I worked on. I get a sense that Curve's culture is not the best as they mention a very high turnover and lack of structure. They couldn't give me more details about role and the team I was supposed to join. Interview 2: Senior Data Engineer - we discussed again the same projects of the previous stage. Also this person couldn't answer my questions about the team. Interview 3: Head of ML - while the previous interviewer left me a good impression, in this case the interviewer was absolutely not engaged, he checked his phone a couple of times and fired only very generic questions as - he admitted - we wouldn't work together I asked explicitly to meet with the hiring manager so to have a better understanding of exactly what I was about to join. Interview 4: Hiring Manager + 1 - again, a very high level chat, no clear information as "it's a startup, so what's true today might not be true tomorrow" kind of speech. He wasn't even sure he will be the hiring manager in the end. The recruiter communicates me that I passed the loop and they will start working towards sending me an offer. Weeks go by and there are "made-up" misunderstandings, miscommunications and change of approval process (?!) on their end. I force them to send me a communication with the details of the offer as I start to suspect that they are trying to hire someone else to give my role. This continues for other weeks until the recruiter calls me to tell me that the position has been cancelled due to lack of budget. Definitely to avoid.
