Mission Can you inspire people to lead healthier lives, every day?
Our mission is to help more people in more places live healthier lives. Whether you work in our gyms or in our Central Support function, we are all passionate about the positive difference that fitness can make in people’s lives.
Since our launch in 2009 we have grown to become one of the world’s largest gym operators, pioneering the model for affordable, flexible, high-quality gyms. Now an International Group, and a leading European gym operator, we are able to make an even greater impact, helping more people in more places to live healthier lives.
Our mantra of 'Everybody Welcome' is not just a strapline, it is our promise to our members and to each of us who work at PureGym. We welcome everybody, regardless of size, ability, age, ethnicity, religion, gender, sex, or sexual orientation. Our gyms are friendly, supportive, and judgement-free spaces where everybody can come in, work out and leave feeling good.
Powerleague is the original and first provider of commercial small-sided football in the UK. Today, we operate over 40 community clubs, and each one is built around the same idea: bringing local people together, being proud of where we’re from, and being the local home of 5-a-side.
And it’s not just football anymore. We’re growing our offer with padel, giving customers even more ways to play, compete, and spend time with their people.
Whether you’re looking to show off your skills in one of our FA-accredited leagues, book a casual game with mates, or throw an unforgettable kids birthday party, we’ve got you covered. With millions of visits every year across our venues, we know what it takes to deliver a great experience, from first booking to final whistle.
We’re proud to lead the way in the industry, putting customers at the centre of everything we do. From launching industry-first ideas to investing in bespoke training that builds real service confidence, we keep pushing standards, because there’s always a better experience to deliver.
We are an ambitious company and we’re always looking for great people to join our team – from personal trainers, group exercise instructors and club managers to our fitness teams. We’re committed to training, so you’ll be encouraged to improve your existing skills while you develop new ones.

We’re a unique organisation, with a nationwide network of hospitals, medical centres, sterile service units and gyms with clinics and nurseries. Everyone works together, as one big community. Which means we can take care of the whole healthcare journey - from diagnosis, treatment and cure, to helping all kinds of people reach their fitness goals and prevent illness in the first place.
What’s more, we invest every penny we make back into our services. We’re always considering new ways to make our facilities better, to create environments where people love to work. We also support cutting edge research and development. Put simply, we’re taking healthcare forward, for the benefit of our members and patients everywhere.
We invest in our people, too. From doctors and nurses, to physios and trainers, and everyone who keeps things running behind the scenes, they’ve each got specialist skills that make a difference. Most importantly, they’re all committed to providing fantastic experiences.
We are Europe’s leading premium health and wellness group operating 130+ clubs across the UK and Europe, comprising three brands David Lloyd Clubs, Harbour Clubs and David Lloyd Meridian Spa and Fitness in Germany.
Ever since we opened our first Club back in 1982, we’ve worked hard to build a sense of belonging. It’s why many of our 750,000+ Members think of their Club as a second home. And why 89% of our Team Members say they’re proud to work at David Lloyd Clubs.
But we want to go even further. To make David Lloyd Clubs known as a place where people can bring their whole selves to work and where fresh voices are celebrated.
At David Lloyd Clubs, we’re only as good as the people we work with. Which is why we want you to choose us.
From Line Chefs to Crèche Assistants, Lifeguards to Maintenance Operators, everyone has a part to play in helping our members live a better life.
For forty years, we’ve provided unrivalled Club facilities and exceptional member service. We’re now the largest health and fitness operator in Europe, and we’ve got big plans for the future. But we don’t just invest in our Clubs. We invest in our people. It’s why we were voted one of the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to work for – four years running
So, whether you’re taking your first steps in your career, or you’re looking for your next challenge, you’ll find everyone is welcome at David Lloyd Clubs.
There’s never been a better time to join.
Our Purpose is to inspire people to live an active life. It drives everything we do and we are obsessed with achieving this.
But how did we get here?
Matthew Bucknall, our Founder and Group CEO, started Virgin Active in 1997 when Sir Richard Branson asked him to research across the globe and create the best health clubs in the world. Matthew opened Virgin Active’s first club in Preston in 1999. A combination of new builds, club acquisitions and strategic club disposals has helped create the Virgin Active of today; a business with over 240 clubs and more than 1.2 million members across eight countries.
So, how do we succeed as a business in inspiring people to live an active life? It’s simple really… through our amazing people. This is why we think it is really important to make, and keep, a big promise to them:
"We are one team and want our people to always feel they can be themselves. We work hard and we dream big."
