At The AA, inclusion is central to who we are - and we’re proud to have renewed our commitment to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme for another year. As part of Neurodiversity Celebration Week (16–20 March), we marked Sunflower Day on 19 March with a company-wide webinar hosted by our Ability Network. The session brought colleagues together to learn more about non-visible disabilities, hear directly from representatives of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme, and explore practical ways we can all help make everyday interactions more inclusive. The Sunflower is a globally recognised symbol for people living with hidden disabilities - including neurological, cognitive and physical conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, chronic pain, anxiety and sensory processing differences. Wearing a sunflower lanyard, badge or card discreetly shows that someone may need a bit more time, understanding or support. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference, helping create awareness, patience and inclusion. Renewing our commitment is about more than a symbol: it reflects our belief that recognising non-visible disabilities is essential to building a workplace rooted in empathy, understanding and belonging. This week our Senior Leaders have been working with Cambridge Spark as part of our "Leading with AI programme" – building the confidence and practical skills to use AI in ways that create real value for colleagues and customers. Over the past year, we’ve launched a full suite of AI learning, including Cambridge Spark’s leadership programme, alongside structured ChatGPT training now rolled out to 1,500 colleagues. We’re already seeing this translate into live use cases in areas like Claims and the launch of our Enterprise AI platform. Real transformation starts with leadership.
