Mission Wellcome supports science to solve the urgent health challenges facing everyone.
Description Science is essential to solving the world’s health challenges. That’s Wellcome's founding principle and it’s as true today as ever. It’s why we will always support bold research across a wide range of disciplines to discover more about life, health and wellbeing. It's also why we take on worldwide health challenges such as mental health, infectious disease & climate and health.
The Wellcome Trust was founded in 1936, in accordance with Henry Wellcome’s will, to improve health by supporting scientific research and the study of medicine. Today, all our work is funded from an investment portfolio that currently stands at £29.1 billion. Although the way we deliver our mission has evolved since 1936, science has always been at the heart of it.
