Slow-moving and bureaucratic, but with sudden shifts in strategy that are unsettling and undermining. Very siloed with little professional development. Too much discussion of strategy and not enough action. The result is a haphazard, unsystematic approach, in which individual projects are overlooked or buried, apparently because they might not be understood or appreciated by senior leaders. Very little autonomy. Fragile sense of job security.

Constant restructures, increasing risk on job security even if you’ve been successful at Wellcome, putting staff through several changes every few months. No real chance of feedback resulting in positive change. No security. Cold reactions from management with no accountability. Issues are at the top, but the people doing the great work get the blame. No progression unless you’re in the executive team. Quite toxic in recent years.
