Pros

My local team at Amey Consulting that I am in is a good bunch and makes working here bearable. Lord knows that's the only reason I show up.

Cons

Progression is near enough impossible. Two different criteria for External hires and Internal (internal is more onerous) Force you to complete IPD (with ICE) based on your Education level. This puts people with a BEng at an advantage and allows them to progress quicker/easier than those with a MSc who have to complete IPD to CEng. Not place where you want to work for more than a year or two MAX.

Pros

None - apart from a few people I worked with who made the job bearable.

Cons

Employed as a HR Administrator when it was clearly a call centre position - volume of calls not explained during application process. Managers have delusions of grandeur and speak to you like you're a piece of dirt. Got shouted at down the phone for a living. Abuse towards staff is not tolerated in other businesses but at Amey, it's accepted. Other HR teams were providing poor service - i.e. not responding to an employee's queries untill 3 weeks later. We would then have to take grief on the phone for their mistakes. Zero opportunities to progress, training to further knowledge/career not offered. Promises made my management which were never kept. (I found this ridiculous as it was my job to answer queries on a wide range of HR issues) From what I could see, employees were being treated badly across the business. Managers have too much power and HR have absolutely no power, it is a terrible system.

Hello. Thanks for getting in touch, we're really sorry to hear that you do not feel supported in your current role. If you haven't already spoken to your manager about this, we'd really recommend that you raise your concerns with them. We have passed your feedback to the Emerging Talent Team who will look into this further.
