Pros

Some really commited and passionate young people who are sadly being sold a lie.

Cons

The business used to have a rich and vibrant collection of real and deep subject matter expertise that was unrivalled as a collective. However this gave way to naked profiteering under the veneer of scaling for impact. The business has increasingly shifted to focus on the superficial world of brand, and comms and abandoned the purpose that was ultimately rooted in science, environmentalism and engineering. The execs talk about the broader ambition of sustainability dealing with inequality and human rights, while they extract as much as possible and the SLT continue to drink the KOOL aid to access their own little slice.

Pros

None. This company is a joke.

Cons

Certified B corp status is meaningless. They don't live up to it. In my department they doubled the size of the team over the course of a year, didn't actually win much work, effectively put the blame at the employees door and then put everyone on redundancy notice after 2 underperforming quarters (new people were being enticed away from good jobs a matter of weeks prior to the redundancies). No serious consultation actually occurred. Don't touch this company with a barge pole. They don't live up to their values and treat employees like excrement when the going gets tough. They are simply a ruthless money focused corporation dancing to the tune of their private equity backers. No words can describe my rage! Truly awful company. No substance behind their well presented corporate crap. Please read Stuart McLachlan's book The Adventure of Sustainable Performance to get a feeling for the corporate nonsense this company peddles.

Pros

Some superb experts - best in their field in some cases. Technical expertise is the best I've seen, the best black book of specialists I could hope to come across in one organisation.

Cons

Lack of direction and strategic decision-making Founder favours loyalty and subservience over talent and skilled-experience. Unable to organise resource so tremendous waste (of time, resource, talent) PE-Backed venture with tough US firm means culture is more akin to a lawfirm chasing billable hours than fighting for climate and social justice. Complete lack of diversity across the board.
