Pros
* Pay is acceptable once qualified. * Some colleagues are supportive and helpful.
Cons
* Management culture at the Runcorn depot is extremely poor. In my experience, managers were more interested in finding fault than supporting drivers. I felt intimidated rather than encouraged, and it created a very stressful working environment. * The licence repayment scheme feels unfair. New drivers receive only the minimum training required to pass their test, but when additional training or support is needed afterwards, it is often refused. * Mistakes are met with warnings and disciplinary action rather than coaching and development. There seems to be little interest in helping drivers improve or build confidence. * Driver welfare appears to be a low priority. I did not feel that the company demonstrated an adequate duty of care towards either drivers or passengers. * There is a constant focus on bringing new recruits through the door, but many leave within a year because of the way they are treated. * New drivers are often made to feel disposable and unsupported once they have qualified. * If you leave before completing the required period, the licence repayment costs can be significant and may place considerable financial strain on former employees. The way these repayments are handled can have a major impact on people’s finances.
