Pros

Salary is competitive and probably above for Cardiff. Some very nice staff who are sadly undervalued.

Cons

Approach of management is very disappointing. They sadly are not professional to work with and very much hold personal grudges in my view. Staff turnover appears very high for a firm of this nature and many staff disappear from the firm without anyone being told and without notice etc. I felt the nature of the firm is to look after yourself and I felt nervous every time I went on leave certain people would try and exploit this for thei own gain. I was not welsh in a welsh law firm and felt excluded by this everyday. It makes you feel excluded when for instance people have conversations with you in English then continue it with other colleagues in welsh excluding you from it. In addition there were regular unprofessional and inappropriate things happening on a day to day basis such as management asking solicitors to fetch their lunch for them and highly inappropriate impressions of clients. I genuinely felt bullied there at points.

Pros

Some fantastic people, including senior management.

Cons

Terrible benefits compared to competitors. Market themselves as innovative, but no different to other law firms. Board does not know the issues that are rife in the teams. A lot of the good people have either left or are looking.

Pros

I’ve recently completed my first six months at Capital Law, and I can genuinely say it’s been a fantastic experience. From the outset, I’ve felt welcomed and supported by a team that values collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. *Superb offices and on-site chef (with free vegetarian meals on Mondays and Tuesdays) *Genuine work / life balance with the flexibility to WFH most of the week (I currently attend the office once a week).

Cons

No major cons to note so far—just the usual learning curve when starting a new role.
