Pros

The products are great and for the most part do what it says on the tin. Training is good and you learn a lot though it gets repetitive after you've been shown how to do a smokey eye a dozen times. Working for Chanel looks amazing on your CV and will help you with other jobs in the long run. Staff allocation is rather generous and commission can be great if you hit your target.

Cons

No progression, unless you are prepared to keep your mouth shut and just go with whatever they say. If they don't like you then there's no chance for a promotion! Senior management are lying bullies and proud of it! Some managers are also racist and very unprofessional! The more robotic you are and the less personality you have the better you will be liked, be like bland flavorless porridge and you will be loved! Targets are ridiculous and un-achievable but they are done that way so there's less chance of hitting your commission! Senior managers think they are better than their employees because they get paid more for doing less and look down on their staff!

Pros

Staff discount looks good on cv

Cons

Extremely Toxic Work Environment Working at Chanel was an incredibly challenging and disappointing experience. The company's outdated standards and lack of respect for individuality made it clear that conformity was the only path to success. If you didn't fit the predetermined mold they had created, you were made to feel like your uniqueness was a problem. One of the most concerning aspects of the company was its complete disregard for empathy and mental health. It seemed that the management team had no understanding or appreciation for the importance of mental well-being. They treated the concept of mental health as a joke, which greatly impacted the morale and overall atmosphere within the organization. Furthermore, the lack of support and disregard for employee well-being was evident in the way they treated their staff. Employees were seen as disposable assets unless they were based at headquarters. If you were an individual with a voice and ideas, you were often bullied or pushed out by the management team, leaving no room for constructive dialogue or personal growth. Despite promises of career progression, it became clear that only those who were part of the inner circle or close to management were given opportunities for advancement. Qualifications and skills seemed to hold little value, further adding to the frustration and feeling of worthlessness among employees. In conclusion, working at Chanel was a deeply demoralizing experience. The toxic work environment, the disregard for individuality and mental health, and the lack of career progression opportunities left me feeling undervalued and unappreciated. I would caution anyone considering employment at this company to seriously evaluate the potential impact on their self-esteem and overall well-being.

Pros

The salary was the only positive. Oh and the staff discount (after your 6 month probation)

Cons

Head office treat you disgustingly. I trained for years to become a makeup artist and because of the constant bullying from head office I had to leave Makeup Retail as I lost my passion for makeup. They also love scare mongering. Never take responsibility when they’ve done wrong. It’s always YOUR fault, never theirs. Useless and horrible.
