Mission Our vision is to reinvent retail, and our purpose is to imagine and create a sustainable future for our people and customers.
We do this in a way that respects our world, builds trust and values creativity and innovation in everything we do.
Description Selfridges was founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge, changing the world of retail forever when the first store opened on Oxford Street in 1909. Since then, the brand has opened three more stores in Manchester and Birmingham and become the only store to be named Best Department Store in the World four times.
Selfridges is more than a shop. It is a landmark destination and social centre where everyone is welcome. Powered by imagination and filled with creative spirit, we invite collaboration and congregation. From our in-house cinema, restaurants and bars, skate bowl and extraordinary cultural program to our ever-evolving roster of collaborators - artists, designers and innovative new brands - we are a creative playground in which to discover and share new ideas.
When it comes to customer experience, no one does it quite like Selfridges, and that’s because our extraordinary team members know how to surprise, amaze and amuse our customers.
We’re made up of a range of creative and passionate teams across London, Leicester, Manchester and Birmingham with roles in Retail, Digital, Head Office and Restaurants.
Created in 2012 by Ben Francis, Gymshark has grown a fitness and conditioning community.
A garage, a sewing machine, and a teenager. Ben and his group of friends started off screen-printing t-shirts and sending them to athletes they admired. Then things got real. By doing this, a group of Gymshark athletes formed across social channels, making the community what it is today.
Our community is at the heart of what we do, so we’re striving to progress each day. From seamless fabrics to comfort, quality and fit, Gymshark is made for everyone on their conditioning journey, so we keep moving further forward together.

The IKEA way.
Our story
17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad founded IKEA in 1943, selling household goods like pens, wallets, and picture frames. Småland, the province where Ingvar grew up, was a stony and rugged landscape. Smålanders are said to be thrifty and innovative, with a “no-nonsense” approach to everyday problem solving. Surely, this heritage transpires in the IKEA way of doing things and partly explains our success.
Today, around one million people are working with us, directly and indirectly, to bring our vision to life and create a better everyday life for the many people. And this is just the beginning.
As many lives, generations, cultures and stories pass through our doors, our mission remains unchanged: to service the needs and aspirations of our customers, to create new stories and bring moments of delight.
Our people are our strength - their unique personalities and their desire to exceed expectations are what enables us to make the impossible possible for our customers.
Our customers are at the heart of our success. They’re the reason we exist, and we never forget it. And we’re always looking for new exceptional people who want to connect to them, to delight them and to become part of our story. #TogetherHarrods
