From my first day I felt very unwelcome - there seemed to be a general lack of patience and kindness from senior/ long-term members of the team and absolutely no trust in my capabilities as a designer.
As others have mentioned, this is not design work– it is more like art-working and web development, this isn't explained until you start.
You’re forced to use far too many workflow systems and communication platforms to constantly prove you’re doing the work. Used collectively serves no purpose besides wasting a lot of time and causing chaos. Subsequently you spend most of your days updating a spreadsheet / on calls / sending lists to managers/seniors who refuse to admit the system is flawed.
99% of the 'design work' is usually just amending existing projects done by someone else - sometimes these can be from around 2/3 years ago. This is to save time because you waste most of it doing unnecessary admin.
Managers and seniors are inexperienced, unapproachable and patronising. They only contact you when you've done something wrong.
The equipment provided was awful - with absolutely no effort made to ensure a comfortable home set up.
Office social life is non-existent.
If you are off sick, management will continue to bombard you or ask you to 'be on hand'.
