Pros

Virtual GP appointments Learning about health and wellness, an organic interest of mine Customer interactions, feeling like you have helped someone

Cons

As others have stated, the work load is insane for the hourly pay rate! Physically demanding, no lifting aids provided, having to carry heavy stock up stairs. Body aches by the end of the day. Constant KPI pressure, nothing you ever do feels like it’s good enough. I have worked in two stores and consistently been the top performer across every single target, I have never been thanked or rewarded for this. All that has ever been pointed out is short comings , like being 5 minutes over when cashing up ?? Err…… I had to count the till a second time? Every minute is resented. So many compliance tasks and constant range reviews and promotions, to the point where no one is actually sure, what offers need to be added or removed. I was told to flip offer tickets over the night before promo change and some of them had 3 different prices?? Lots of lone working, rosters not created around the days which are consistently the busiest. Honestly just exhausting and demoralising. It’s sad because I genuinely love interacting with and helping customers but some days I am so stressed with tasks that I could cry

Pros

The only pro I can think of is the training that you receive. Although it can be hit and miss with some employees depending on what area you're working in and what role.

Cons

Prepare to be bombarded by KPIs and targets, you need to sell this with this, increase on this, 4 item link sale, Rewards for Life cards, magazines, samples, customer feedback cards is just a few of the things you have to remember. There's always a shortage of staff so be prepared if you're management to not have a lot of time off if any. You're never acknowledged for the work that you do and the time that you put in or rewarded for it. The area manager is always on your back asking why something hasn't been done, why you haven't met a certain target etc. Just all in all very stressful along with all the tests and training updates that you have to do in between.
