Pros
Customers are friendly and nice, co workers get you through your day.
Cons
Hours being cut meaning only 3 on shop floor. No time for breaks as you have to maintain availability and standards as well as go on till and pack home deliveries. I'm not afraid of hard work but the ethics of the company is wrong. Many a time I stay extra and work for free because I care and want to make sure the shop is at a high standard so customers keep coming back. I work and many others through breaks as staff is at a minimum. Soon as you try and have a break the bell goes and you are needed at till or something is off sale and you need to get it out. Theft is high as not enough staff on shop floor to deter thieves. The company needs to stop relying on the good will of staff and start paying for breaks that are not taken and overtime or at least have more staff on shop floor so we can take our breaks. The deliveries are too large for the amount of staff to do them. Most nights there two staff to sort out deliveries for 3 departments as well as pulling back stock to make the shop full for the next day in 3 hrs as well as taking out of date stock off which takes an hour. It's an impossible task. The company expects too much we are people who love working for Iceland and want to be treated properly not like animals. Yes we should be lucky we have a job but a job with no breaks, security risks and unpaid overtime is not right.
