Pros

The interview process was short enough and quite pleasant. The people seem very friendly and welcoming when you first start and try to make you feel at home. Company seems to care more about people than other places I've seen and tries their best, concerning that they're a non-profit organisation. They have a good work-from-home policy, 1-2 days a week in the office.

Cons

Unfortunately it seemed like the hire was not really needed or thought through and everything was very poorly managed and organised. First of all, nowhere in the interview process or job description it mentions how many tasks you have to do in this job, some of which are long and arduous, such as having to manually copy and paste details and CVs of each applicant onto their ATS, because they do not have any processes or systems that make this automatic. This means you spend hours and hours copying and pasting applications of hundreds of people, and 80% of them get rejected on the ATS as soon as the service managers check them. There was also a lack of proper training materials when starting the role, was even told that when the supervisor started there was no training material, but she just "picked it up as they went". This is concerning as there is no real training, it's more of a figure it out and try to do as many things as you can, flawlessly and in a short amount of time. And on top of all of that, you're doing the job of 2 people for a salary of 20k. Unless you've been in the business for ages pr have connections inside the business, you're expected to work incessantly and raise your stress levels through the roof, because "it's manageable". In conclusion, if you're a young person looking to start in TA, choose a different company or industry. There are better jobs out there, with better management and better salaries.

Thank you for your honest opinion. Feedback is always valued and welcomed. We are sorry to hear that your experience in the Talent Acquisition team did not meet your expectations. This administrative role is very much needed and is an integral part of our Talent Acquisition team providing necessary support to achieve successful hiring and on-boarding experiences. Our New Colleague Assessment activity ensures that roles and expectations are clarified, along with mandatory training and policy reading and in-role targets, with a least 4-weekly catch-up meetings. When onboarding, each member of the team spends time with new colleagues to explain the role, show them the ropes and make priorities and expectations clear. We expect new colleagues to make their own notes which make sense to them, in addition to the materials which already exist. We have a successful agile working strategy and comprehensive wellbeing programme, and so no-one is expected to work more hours than contracted. If you would like to discuss your feedback further, please send an email to diane.stirton@orwell-housing.co.uk and I will be happy to personally clarify anything further.
