Pros

You get 30 days annual leave

Cons

The management at RSSB are incompetent, incapable of maintaining a clear remit and clearly have no idea how to run a success business. They are currently hiring young, inexperienced staff in an attempt to save money as they have made so many terrible financial decisions in the past, and are continuing to do so, and this seems like this is their way of saving a failing business. They also seem intent on getting rid of all of the older, more experienced staff members who have all of the knowledge by promoting younger, inexperienced people over them, having management take the credit for their work completed and never acknowledging the work they have put in the job. Due to this massive changes in staff the quality of work has dramatically reduced and time frames have gone out the window as staff try to fight their way through the completely unnecessary levels of bureaucracy that have been put in place by people who have never actually done the job and seem far more concerned with the correct formatting then producing quality outputs. RSSB are currently going through a large scale redundancies across the company but are doing it department by department so they do not have to a collective agreement for the staff with the union. The majority of the staff that have been made redundant are women and staff that have worked at RSSB for a long time. RSSB is also know for the massive inequalities for woman as there is a 26% pay gap and yet despite repeated attempts from the union they refuse to address this issue. They also have a large amount of staff off on stress leave, lodging grievances and being victims of bulling and yet none of these are being properly addressed, which reflects how little they care about their staffs well being. RSSB are hypocrites in many ways but particularly because they are trying to promote health and well being in the rail industry, which is an incredibly important topic, but they treat their staff terribly. They have also started denying all forms of flexible working despite claiming otherwise. In summary this is a terrible place to work, unless of course you are a ‘yes’ person that will do whatever you’re told to do without question, regardless of the correct procedure or potential outcome, then you’ll be fine.
