Bullying culture at all management levels - Anonymous employee Walt Disney Company Employee Review

Pros

The Disney 'brand'. The fun perks such as screenings, merchandise sales and park passes.

Cons

Privvy to much and experienced some bullying from many levels of management. Certain staff 'went through' assistants like pairs of socks and treated junior staff appallingly. Rather than act upon such treatment HR were keen to let those same people behave in that same way thereby costing the company in new recruitment costs, payoffs and alike. Disney is a big company and there are some very good people. However knowing that even at the executive level this type of treatment of staff is allowed means my time there left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully the new UK head will shake things up a little.

Pros

They offer really great opportunities to connect with various departments to discuss what their role is like at the parks, their path into their role etc. If you put in the effort for networking and use your free time for the courses/sessions that Disney Programs provides then you can make really great and beneficial connections for a future career at Disney. This is a great way to experience a career at Disney with everything “handled” for you (housing, transportation, you’re close to food options, you have access to parks etc) for someone who wants to try it out without the commitment of changing their whole life to fully move to Florida.

Cons

Being an intern program you don’t have any control over your own schedule. I attended the program after graduation and am very glad I did this as in my opinion it would have been difficult to keep up with college course loads on top of your work schedule AND being able to take advantage of all the “extra” learning opportunities (which in my opinion make or break if this program is worth it for you). You’ll likely be working long shifts, non consecutive and non consistent days off, and most likely will be late nights not typical day shifts (2pm - 12am etc).
