Pros

The Disney 'brand'. The fun perks such as screenings, merchandise sales and park passes.

Cons

Privvy to much and experienced some bullying from many levels of management. Certain staff 'went through' assistants like pairs of socks and treated junior staff appallingly. Rather than act upon such treatment HR were keen to let those same people behave in that same way thereby costing the company in new recruitment costs, payoffs and alike. Disney is a big company and there are some very good people. However knowing that even at the executive level this type of treatment of staff is allowed means my time there left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully the new UK head will shake things up a little.

Pros

Juniors and interns are fantastic and bring energy/solidarity to the grueling time there

Cons

Specifically applies to Disney+. Left after less than a year because of how chaotic it was. Management and seniors feel very high up and unreachable. Huge hierarchy and red tape around everything makes it difficult to feel like a part of the company. Barely any room for progression due to how overworked each person is, which is not helped by how the processes for everything are messy. Very US-centere meaning no strategy, planning, and decisions are being made even in the London EMEA office. Not to mention pay is not only below industry standard but also just general workload standard. Highly political and beurocratic. Find somewhere else. There is no magic in corporate disney.

Pros

There were some great people on the team who knew their stuff, loved their work and delivered to high standards. It's a great place to contribute your input within a wider team and hear what other parts of the business are practising. There are tools available that could really simplify the process. Company perks are great. Internally, directorship and some senior management and team members are living up to the values of Disney and I was really impressed with the direction the company was going in.

Cons

Unfortunately the reason I decided not to stay was the direct line management. Had been direct with boundaries of time, tried to be positive against the focus of negativity towards other team members and tried to understand why there was so much miscommunication between meetings and process change. Was even advised to let standards slip on the work being done to get it 'out the door'. However, there seemed to be a fostering blame culture in smaller team meetings so this was a huge red flag. When trying to explain there was a lot of stress in personal life changes and not being able to work 50hrs a week, that was met with "that's how it is", and followed by avoidance. Also to note, it was even stated in our interview I had out of work commitments and if the role with 9-6 at most, and told that wouldn't be an issue. I would advise anyone taking on this role to work out the salary pro-rata and to be aware this may be the culture you're walking into. I hope for the sake of the team, it won't be and things change.
