Pros

Great place to learn and gain experience quickly Smart, supportive, and talented colleagues across many teams Fast-paced environment with exposure to a wide range of work Strong company/product with good opportunities to develop technical and communication skills

Cons

Team culture can vary significantly depending on management Some individuals can be overly political or have noticeable power trips Progression and promotions can sometimes feel limited by internal politics rather than performance alone Workload and expectations can occasionally feel uneven between teams

Pros

- Ability to try and learn new skills within your career set and touch multiple areas of the business. - Great product. Intercom has branded itself as the industry leader - Perfect place for someone who wants to grow in their career, burn the midnight oil more often, and level up in their career in a high intensity environment.

Cons

Leadership and Individual Contributer alignment has slowly declined altogether. There are multiple teams that are severely understaffed and operating extremely thin during the pandemic while Engineering teams are consistently prioritized. Company culture thrives in office. When the company is remote, team culture is up to the manager. Unfortunately if you included in a team that has a manager that has not interest in fostering team spirit and collaboration, you will be siloed in your work (and its not like anyone will listen to your cries if brought up to leadership).

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience working here. I appreciate the feedback and am sorry to hear that your time wasn’t as enjoyable as we would have liked. It’s absolutely top of mind for Intercom to continue to “test and learn” as we pilot ways of collaborating and celebrating together, now we’re coming back out of a fully remote environment. Intercom is excited to officially welcome employees back into our offices on a hybrid basis beginning in May, and we have been thrilled to collaborate in-person since reopening our offices for optional use in recent months. As a hybrid company, we recognize the magic that happens when people get to work face-to-face, and respect the remote and work-from-home norms that have allowed people to continue to succeed in their roles over the past two years. We want all employees to feel connected and engaged in any setting they’re working from, both in-person and WFH, so we welcome direct feedback - anonymous or otherwise - on your personal experience navigating our evolving remote culture. I’m always available to hear how our teammates' experience could be improved. Liz Sweet, Senior Director, Talent Management

Pros

1) I get to work with really smart people, challenge myself and learn a lot. 2) The culture is very down to earth and understated. 3) Intercom is very transparent about company performance and strategy. Generally information is shared freely and widely

Cons

As a young company they are still figuring out some company processes which requires you to be comfortable with ambiguity and taking your own initiative. For example, the career development and mentoring available are still pretty basic so I need to be proactive/self-directed about this.

100%. We are absolutely still figuring out so much of how we want to work. There is still some mess. Thank you for working hard through it. <3
