Good job for students but can be unnecessarily stressful at times
Pros
Good pay - everyone gets paid the national minimum wage (£11.44) regardless of age. The monthly bonuses are good too! The company values DEI and has strong commitments in creating an inclusive workplaces. Good holiday allowance and pay. Decent uniform allowance, although the set allowance has not increased in line with the inflation of prices.
Cons
A lot of pressure is put on staff due to high INDIVIDUAL sales targets and a lot of KPIs to hit alongside this. This can make the work environment hostile as this causes many arguments between coworkers over which sale is theirs. Management constantly fail to call out malicious sales behaviours such as stealing sales. The most malicious and unpleasant coworkers that display these behaviours are encouraged and praised! Its all about the money, there is no such thing as 'teamwork' or 'team bonding'. Quarterly reviews where you are hounded for not hitting your sales target and a long list of KPIs - too much stress and pressure for a part time sales job in a shop. You will rarely receive praise for your work, even if you have hit your weekly/monthly target, there will always be a KPI that you have fallen short of as there are many (to be exact, there are 8 KPI metrics that stylists are expected to hit every single week regardless of circumstance). Slim chances of promotion and progression into higher management roles.
