Pros

Ok pay, good use of rest days to go travelling. Some interesting or funny calls.

Cons

Clichy culture. Spend most of your time arguing with members of the public and being abused especially in regards to what is a crime or police matter. Supervisors look like all their soul has been taken from them and generally look annoyed when you ask a question

Pros

You work with a lot of people who genuinely care about the job. The calibre of people they have is really high. The organisation is so big which means there is a lot of organisational knowledge, it’s very very rare you’ll be doing something for the first time and if you are there will be an expert somewhere you can connect with. As it’s so large there are so many specialism you can branch off into.

Cons

Pay, you’re probably 10k lower than you would be in the private sector. Constant change, the drive for higher standards and cost efficiencies means that there is always another training package to complete and an ongoing transformation project, don’t expect to stay put.
