Pros

Still a great Campus to work in despite everything. It has great programmes and IT but it is going through stressful times due to problems of over-spend, lack of financial oversight, NI tax rise for employers and energy costs. Pay is still very good no matter the moans, benefits are good but used to be better. Costs of Final Salary Pensions are enormous and so meant a change was required though.

Cons

1. Not as dynamic a place to work in as compared to say 10 years ago. 2. Employees working from home 1 to 3 days a week is not helpful. The site is on 'holiday' mode on Mondays and Fridays! 3. Lack of communication between the top management and employees can be improved. The Employee Partnership (EP) represents staff but it is too cosy with Management as they also sit on the EP too! Rebellious points of view will not feature in the dull monthly EP minutes- great filtering out 'mechanism'! 4. The Sports and Social Club used to be an important aspect of working at the Institute but has been allowed to wither on the vine. Short-week working took its toll as well.. 5. Middle Managers (MMs) still tend to bully and threaten too much. The EPs failure to ensure MMs stick to protocols written by them and HR is absurd leading to people being forced to consider leaving or 'forced out'.

Pros

- Colleagues/ peers kind - Gym onsite - Nursery onsite - Good DEI teams but these are largely staff volunteers

Cons

No development Restructuring means key talent leaving. Restructure has resulted in senior management talking like officials in 1982 Bans any political conversation
