Pros

Good pay Good overtime Modern office with good amenities

Cons

A terrible culture, team managers and senior managers who prioritise favourite staff. I'll give a few examples from my 8 years there. A senior operations manager gave her best friend development opportunities that were never offered or afforded to anyone else, ever. This went as far as creating a secondment for a team manager in the onboarding function. She then interviewed and hired her best friend into the role. When it came to the training of this new temporary team that was very quickly outsourced to the people who were barred from applying because they didn't have adequate training. There is a senior manager who most people have a story about, quite obviously witch hunting certain staff. She is responsible for quality and runs all the error reporting, she's also been caught out on a couple of occasions asking her team for her 'hit list' in public group chat functions by mistake. She employs bullying tactics to go after people she doesn't like and has been described by most managers as 'a dog with a bone' when it comes to this. You have a team manager who is known by most of the young women within patient services for being creepy and saying suggestive things. I was once discouraged from reporting something that I felt was bullying by a team manager and told that if I'm serious about progressing in the business then I should take it as a development opportunity. Most recently patient services has quite openly taken the decision to terminate everyone they could who was on either a flexible working agreement or had occupational health which meant they couldn't complete all duties, even though there was others available or that were just part time and unable to change this fact. Even the team managers got caught with that one, they even used this redundancy opportunity to terminate the team manager they had terminate all of the occupation health/flexible working staff. There was also the time operations managers ordered pizzas and had them open all over the main floor during Ramadan. Or there was also that time that the director delivered a presentation about pay structure changes to the entire patient services that was full of Elon musk quotes just two days after the Britain first movement live streamed Elon musk on a giant screen in london spouting nonsense about insighting racial violence. Overall patient services presents itself as an inclusive space to work whilst actually being the complete opposite. Management will actively work against you, scapegoat you. Some will bully you, you will be lied to.

Pros

Competitive salary. Progression Opportunities. Investment in professional development, on the job training and continued CPD opportunities. Healthy and inclusive culture with a focus on recognition, coaching, wellbeing, ambition and the patients, customers and communities we serve, Fantastic team working (including cross functionally) and leadership. Great employee benefits above any beyond the usual EAP and eyecare vouchers - fantastic rewards platform, charitable giving opportunities, healthcare benefits and support, local incentive and recognition schemes and so much more. Genuine support during times of difficulty such as bereavement and ill health.

Cons

There can be some examples of silo working but the company is actively working to improve this.

Blatant bullying culture that senior management are happy to turn a blind eye to. Offer a dreadful service so you become a complaints handler over the job you applied for
