Pros
Offered some fully remote contracts, although I hear this is no longer the case
Cons
In my subjective experience, Walkers harbours an incredibly toxic culture which permeates every level of the business. Staff are held to impossible standards and deadlines, and reprimanded severely when they are inevitably missed. This is on the rare occasion that direction is given prior to reprimand, more often than not an arbitrary target is created retrospectively, and then staff are naturally reprimanded for not intuitively knowing. Management, particularly in the Compliance department, is inexperienced and lacks leadership and personal skills. Any attempt to provide constructive feedback will be met with personal threats and reprisals. Issues concerning mental health are not taken seriously, indeed they are exacerbated once raised by more threats and ill treatment. Communication between departments, as well as from management to staff is very poor indeed, with staff often being blamed for failures of communication on the part of management. Again, these are my own subjective experiences and opinions, which happen to be shared by a number of other people. Take a look at the high level of turnover at Walkers, particularly in the Compliance department, and think very carefully about whether this is the right place for you. Always put your own mental health first. Finally, and as outlined by many others in these reviews, HR are not independent, nor are they particularly competent. If you find yourself in a situation which requires the support of HR, they will invariably side with management and in fact in some cases treat you even worse.
