Christmas Jumper Day at Blick Rothenbergđ đźđ Last week our Christmas Jumper Day and annual raffle was held in support of our Charity of the Year: London's Air Ambulance Charity . Thank you to all our colleagues who took part in person (or virtually): we've raised over ÂŁ1,200. Londonâs Air Ambulance Charity Since launching 33 years ago, the service has treated over 43,000 patients. The London Air Ambulance helicopters get medics to people in 11 minutes, where they can perform life-saving surgery on London's most critically injured. But time is running out for their two helicopters - they need to be replaced by 2024. Londonâs Air Ambulance is reliant on public donations to meet its annual running costs of approximately ÂŁ10 million. The London Air Ambulance works closely with the NHS and receives some funding from its NHS partners, but it is not an NHS organisation.

âTime for Change: Actions not wordsâ That was the theme of Black History Month this October. As part of our âactionsâ we are pleased to introduce Blick Rothenbergâs Black Hair Commitment. Research shows that 1 in 4 Black adults have been sent home from work or faced disciplinary action as a result of wearing their hair in a natural or protective style. As a firm we are committed to having a genuinely inclusive culture where everyone can fulfil their potential and be themselves. Our Black Hair Commitment builds on our âDress for your dayâ framework, ensuring everyone feels empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Our emBRace network produced a Black Hair Commitment guide which explains the history of race-based hair discrimination, the actions we can all take to support our colleagues, and formalises our zero-tolerance attitude to race-based hair discrimination. We love the photography for the guide featuring our own team members We also thank all those in the emBRace network who are helping us all understand the importance of the topic.

Black History Month 2022: Reverse Mentoring The theme for Black History Month is Time for Change: Action Not Words. Alma, a Senior Manager in our US/UK Private Client team talks to Partner, Jim Brown (Leadership Team sponsor for our emBRace employee network), whom she has been reverse mentoring. Reverse mentoring is when a senior leader is mentored by a more junior colleague who, from a diversity and inclusion perspective, may be different from them in some way, and therefore experiences their career differently. The focus of reverse mentoring is to increase the mentee's inclusion skills. However, mentors are also provided with the opportunity to learn from their mentee's experiences, so it is a career development opportunity for both. Throughout October, emBRace (our firmâs network that represents and values the views of our Black and ethnic minority colleagues) are undertaking activities both internally and externally that not only acknowledge Black History Month but demonstrate a commitment to âAction not wordsâ.
