Today on our blog we're introducing Tristan Caldeira, Cargo Charter Broker at Chapman Freeborn South Africa. “My favourite project so far was when we moved aircraft engines from Africa to Canada. It was the first flight I ever secured at Chapman Freeborn, and for that reason it’s one that stands out for me.”
The Chapman Freeborn Cargo and Passenger Teams recently enjoyed attending the The Air Charter Association Spring Lunch. The teams took the opportunity to network and socialise in person with industry colleagues after 2 years of virtual events and meetings.

Chapman Freeborn UK Football Team are flying high! The Chapman Freeborn Group UK football team are successfully remaining top of the league representing the company in a local 6-a-side football league. The team was set up at the beginning of November, by Dane Riecker, who brought the team together from across the UK Group. The Chapman Freeborn Football team’s first match was on the 2nd November and since then they have competed weekly against other local company teams such as DHL and Air Menzies in the London, Gatwick area. The team includes (From left to right), Olly Gates (Vice Captain), Dane Riecker (Captain), Dane’s brother (who kindly stepped in for Jason on this occasion), Hayden Edwards, Jules Dunne, Mario Merola, Charlie McMullen, Joe Mortimer and Jason de Beer (not pictured). Currently unbeaten, having won three matches and drawn three, they are top of the league table. So far they have scored 20 goals! Of course, it is not just about winning, it is great to see the fantastic team spirit out in the community and most of all it’s about having fun. Good luck guys!

The Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard work of the air cargo industry, especially considering the challenges the pandemic has created. We are grateful that Chapman Freeborn has been recognised on the shortlist, as it is a testimony to everyone’s dedication and effort. Chapman Freeborn, the global air charter specialist and part of Avia Solutions Group, has appointed Sharon Vaz-Arab, aviation expert with 30+ years of experience, as its new Director – IMEA (India, Middle East & Africa). Sharon, known throughout the aviation world as ‘Sherry’, arrives at the company following 26 years at Cargolux Airlines, where she began in sales and progressed to Director of Middle East and Indian operations. She also managed global accounts for Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This expertise will stand Sharon in good stead for her new role at Chapman Freeborn. Based in the company’s Dubai office, she is now tasked with managing its business in the IMEA region. Sharon will be working closely with Neil Dursley, Chapman Freeborn Chief Commercial Officer and will play a crucial role in Neil’s global team. Neil Dursley, Chapman Freeborn Chief Commercial Officer commented: “We are delighted to welcome Sharon to Chapman Freeborn, her wealth of knowledge and expertise will be fundamental to our strategic growth plans for IMEA.
Khaled joined the Chapman Freeborn Australia team as a Sales Representative in January 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. He has a passion for aviation that extends to him having a degree on the subject and his own pilots’ license.
