Chapman Freeborn's Flight Support - a year in review
On 18 June 2020, Chapman Freeborn, a global aircraft charter specialist and company of the Avia Solutions Group (ASG), signed an agreement to acquire Arcus Air Logistics and Arcus Air OBC from the Arcus Air Group. Offering ad-hoc air cargo charter and on board courier services primarily to the automotive industry, Arcus Air Logistics is a respected and established supplier with a brand history of over 45 years. The company provides cargo charter services with its own fleet of two Dornier 228-212 aircraft, and a variety of additional aircraft. Recently, we invited our newest colleagues around the globe to a video conferencing session to bring people together. This was a great opportunity for the next generation of Chapman Freeborn employees to meet one another and integrate with the organisation on a social level. It’s lovely to see so many new faces in the Chapman Freeborn family. All new joiners are welcome, regardless of seniority or station – we had attendees from our sales and operations departments as well as our support teams across the group. Following the positive feedback from these sessions, we will continue to run group calls with our new team members. As an organisation, we encourage frequent and ongoing communication, both operational and social. The more our teams connect (albeit digitally) the better we all work and feel. With Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK coming up, now is a great time to reflect on the initiatives that organisations employ to improve the working atmosphere and ensure mental wellbeing is considered and prioritised.
Hello from our data-crunching Business Intelligence (BI) department. The team is working nonstop to ensure that vital information relating to our COVID-19 response flights is accurately recorded for essential compliance screening and data security. Without departments such as BI, Chapman Freeborn would not be able to operate at the capacity that we do. We’re transporting vital goods and medical supplies 24/7, and our functional departments play a significant role in making this possible.
Employee well-being is so important all of the time, but even more so now. Our global HR team are working hard to ensure all our colleagues around the globe are supported.
The UK team welcomed Norris EI-Hiraki from the Los Angeles office for a week of meetings and onboarding. Norris had the opportunity to meet with all departments and gain more insight to how each department operates, to support his role as a Cargo Sales Director. He will continue his trip to our Frankfurt office in Germany as well before heading back to Los Angeles. Chapman Freeborn promotes and encourages knowledge sharing between offices as it has such a positive impact on overall business performance. #makethedifference #globalteam
Meet Ana and read about her career at Chapman Freeborn Airchartering! I have been at Chapman Freeborn for almost 7 years. I started in July of 2013, as an accounts assistant. In July of 2015 we had some changes within the department allowing for the opportunity for my promotion to the Management Accountant for the local finance department bringing on new challenges. I was the local management accountant from July 2015 to December of 2016, where again an opportunity presented that allowed me to test the waters as a broker. I briefly worked with the passenger team, but ultimately preferred to transition into the cargo department where I am better able to apply my skills from past experience. Every day you are challenged in this company and this job. You must always be ready to rise to the challenge; be quick on your feet, adaptable and definitely willing to learn from others as well as teach and share information. You will face challenges with new projects. One of the best parts of what we do is the chance to build long-lasting relationships with peers and colleagues.
The teams in the UK were invited to participate in an Insights Discovery Workshop, which was held at the office near Gatwick. This workshop emphasised on supporting staff through periods of internal change, how to enhance team working, providing staff with the skills to avoid conflicts, personal development and how to build effective working relationships. From a commercial standpoint, this workshop will support the operational teams in communicating more effectively with clients, to better understand their needs and how they prefer to work. All of this was achieved through self-assessment of their own personal approach to things, and how to adapt that approach with different people and scenarios.
