Suganthini Mahendran, one of our exceptional Sales Colleagues, exemplifies how having the right mindset shapes a successful workday. β° βMy day starts around 4.30am with bit of praying, reading and managing a WhatsApp group on Sacred Temple Architectureβ¦ I use my holiday to travel worldwide to go check these out!β π βI am at work at least 30 minutes before my scheduled time. I look at updates, check my numbers, look at any KPIs that I might want to focus on more. Have a cup of tea and check to see if Iβve got my work phone, lanyard with my name badge, pens, C&R leaflets, CSat slips and the store mode tablets, and then I clock in." πͺ "When I step on the shop floor, I have everything I need and a clear vision of what needs to be delivered on that shift.β In the fast-paced world of retail, mindset is key to success. How do you get into the right mindset for work?
What a fantastic turnout for our Women's Network (WN) Event at Fort Dunlop! With three incredible guest speakers, including our own inspiring Susie Moan and Lindsay Haselhurst, alongside engaging break-out rooms, it was an event to remember! Lindsay, our Chief Operating Officer, couldn't help but give a big shout-out to Kirsty, Co-Founder of the group, and the WN team for "a thought-provoking session, a rare opportunity to network across the business." And Jodie, one of our amazing General Managers and Forum Reps, also shared her reflection on the day: "It was a great opportunity to catch up with so many other women and allies across the business."π€β¨
Steve, our dedicated Wellbeing Manager at Currys, champions the importance of work-life balance! βοΈπΌ In a world where the lines between work and personal life can blur, Steve stands as a model of resilience and self-care. πͺ His invaluable tip? "For me, it's about making sure you log off at a reasonable time, making sure that you're not focused on emails at 7/8 o'clock at night. Knowing that it's going to be there in the morning and it's fine to leave it, helps me manage my work-life balance." By prioritising time away from work, and resisting the temptation to constantly stay plugged in, Steve sets a positive example for colleagues and fosters a culture of balance and self-care. πΏ
Newark colleague exchange programme π§βπ€βπ§ Our Newark store is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the fantastic Newark Distribution & Repair centre, and for the past year, the two have been swapping some incredible colleagues as part of a colleague exchange program. Last week, the store had the pleasure of hosting the fabulous William (with the glasses) from the Repair Administration team! π William brought a ton of questions about the store's processes for repairing laptops and TVs, and the Newark store crew had just as many questions for him about the repairs process! π€ But it wasn't just a Q&A session. They swapped knowledge and increased understanding between two different areas of the business, allowing them to learn about all the services on offer to customers. Together, they're shaping a seamless experience for all! π οΈ

Quiet Hour is a dedicated time where we change the shopping experience in-store β and itβs one year old today! In 2022, we introduced Quiet Hour time to make stores more accessible for certain customers who may be overwhelmed by sounds, lighting and sensations in store. In practice, it means reducing noise in-store, keeping lights low and making sure there are no flashing screens for the first hour of the day. βI am really proud of this initiative, which shows our commitment to making Currys a place where everyone feels comfortable to shop,β says Paula Coughlan, Chief People, Comms and Sustainability Officer. βItβs a really big step for a retailer of our size and scale, and really demonstrates our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Weβve still got a long way to go, but weβre extremely proud of the progress weβve made so far.β
