Are any of you film buffs? If you came across the Dune Part Two premiere “red carpet” last month, Day Aggregates provided all the sand for the set! Our Tolworth branch supplied 22 bulk bags of our Leisure / Play Pit sand which was used for the construction of the event's set, held in Leicester Square. If you have watched the film or are aware of the Dune franchise, it is plain to see that they have gone all out to reflect the movie at the world premiere. After the event, in line with our commitment to being environmentally conscious, the sand was delivered back to our Brentford depot where it was recycled.

The statistics on male health are deeply concerning. Men are 50% less likely than women to take time off work for preventive health check-ups, 76% of suicides in the UK are male. Men face a 37% higher risk of cancer-related mortality. For the month of November we supported the Movember with the help from our employee assistance programme, YuLife. Here at Day Group we are keen to ensure our employees feel supported in all aspects of their wellbeing.
In early 2024, we are set to begin processing IBA (Incinerator Bottom Ash) at a new facility in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, as part of a long-term strategic partnership with Encyclis. The aim of the partnership is to ensure that the by-products of the energy-from-waste process are put into productive use. When finished, the new plant will process around 200,000 tonnes of IBA per year from Encyclis’ Rookery South and Newhurst energy recovery facilities (ERF). The two facilities are designed to divert over 900,000 tonnes of non-recycled commercial and domestic waste away from landfill each year by using it as fuel to generate sustainable baseload electricity for the National Grid. Our main contractor for the build is Stepnell, supported by other subcontractors who have completed the civil works. The construction process is now in its next phase, with mechanical and electrical components being installed. When completed, the facility will have a key role in the UK’s waste management infrastructure and contribute greatly to the growth of the circular economy.
