Dementia Action Week aims to raise awareness of dementia, and this year their Forget Me Not appeal calls for people to share their stories to highlight support available for families dealing with dementia. National Apprenticeship Week 2026 - Celebrating the People Who Help ECL Make a Difference National Apprenticeship Week is an important moment for us at ECL. It gives us the chance to recognise the colleagues who are building their skills and shaping their careers while helping us deliver the high quality support our customers and their families rely on. Across ECL, 58 colleagues are currently completing apprenticeships. Each one brings dedication, curiosity, and a real commitment to providing excellent care and support. Their growth strengthens our teams and helps us continue to offer services that enhance people’s quality of life.
ECL Basildon receives autism specialist accreditation. We are thrilled to announce that our Basildon Day Centre for people with learning disabilities and/or autism has gained the National Autistic Society’s Autism Specialist accreditation. This national charity award is in recognition of the centre’s dedication to providing excellent support for autistic people. The accreditation is testament to the service’s person-centred approach to care as well as its community-based focus on building social connections and reducing isolation.

ECL’s first supported internship scheme is a triumph ECL’s South Essex Supported Internship Job Coaches were bursting with pride recently as they attended the graduation ceremony of their first cohort of students.
ECL is participating in Buzz in the City - an art trail, organised by Farleigh Hospice. The trail will feature a swarm of colourful bee sculptures sponsored by local organisations to raise vital funds for Farleigh Hospice. The swarm consists of 30 large, six-foot-high bee sculptures and 25 smaller ‘mini’ bees located in places of interest throughout the centre of Chelmsford from 5 July to 9 September.
ECL- Buzz in the City. Excitement was buzzing through ECL Chelmsford Highfields and Charles Dickens Day Centres recently as they took delivery of their bees for inclusion in the Buzz in the City art trail organised by Farleigh Hospice.
