At EMIS Group we’re working hard to support our people with all aspects of their mental health wellbeing. Last month Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England delivered invaluable training to our first cohort of Mental Health First Aiders, who now act as a point of contact for those who need someone to talk to. We are so proud of our MHFAs and can already see the difference they're making!
After conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks last year, this year we set our sights on a new challenge all in support of the charity Mind! 38 colleagues from across the business took part in our Extreme Edale Challenge consisting of four different routes ranging in distance from 25-100KM. Well done to everyone that took part and a big thank you to everyone that donated - we managed to raise an impressive £20,000!
It's often the little things that make the biggest difference, so when our 6 newest development apprentices arrived for their first day, they were given a welcome pack of helpful kit, including a wireless charger, laptop stickers, a water bottle and more!
In February, a group from our Development teams in Leeds and Bolton travelled to Manchester to talk about Apprentices. Since then we have confirmed our partnership with Code Nation - Creating Employable Talent and are supporting employees as they start a career in the world of technology. Check out our video to hear about what we're doing and stay tuned over the next few weeks as we will continue to share more information and detail on our Software Developer Apprenticeship Programme with you! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMvRl
New Year… New Tech… New Platforms… This week it all started: Our teams across the UK have begun the work to migrate our systems to the new, cloud-based platform that seamlessly links different healthcare teams and systems, which will be known as EMIS-X. Our Leeds office celebrated this milestone with some cake before all the hard work began! Andy Thorburn, our CEO, has said “We believe EMIS-X will help to hugely improve efficiency and patient safety, while providing dramatic cost savings to the NHS”. Exciting times ahead...
Teams across EMIS Group have been celebrating in the run up to Christmas and to end a fantastic year of achievements! One of the achievements we're especially proud of is raising £70,000 for our charity partner Mind. We've climbed the height of Everest, walked the Yorkshire Three Peaks, dressed up, baked cakes, helped in Mind charity shops and more. And, to top it all off, our Group Executive Team have donated an extra £10,000 to the pot meaning we've now raised a total of £80,000! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
“From the start, EMIS Group has led the way in interoperability and we have been working closely with clinicians and other customers during 2018 to develop EMIS-X. We believe it is the blueprint for the future of connected healthcare in the UK. EMIS-X is massively scalable and provides unprecedented levels of protection for patient data, including strong encryption of sensitive data.” - Andy Thorburn, EMIS Group CEO Last week we presented our updated strategy to both our current and potential future investors at the Stock Exchange in London. There was a lot of brilliant information shared and we're all very excited for our companies continued growth!
You never know who may walk into the office at EMIS Group... Last month we welcomed a VIP: The new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, visited to find out more about us and what we do. “Everyone who works in the company is immensely proud of the part we play in helping the NHS to work more efficiently and improve patient care. That passion and enthusiasm for our work was evident throughout the visit; there was a real buzz in the building.” Peter Southby (our CFO) and Shaun O'Hanlon (our Chief Medical Officer) showed him around and he was impressed with what he saw! He was joined on the visit by Hadley Beeman, Chief Technology Advisor to the Health Secretary, and our local MP, Stuart Andrew.
