Creating a more inclusive future for STEM starts with access, exposure and opportunity. Through sustained school partnerships, hands‑on experiences and a strong network of visible female role models, our Girls Believe Academy outreach programme is helping to break down barriers and challenge outdated perceptions of engineering and construction. Since launching in 2021, the programme has delivered meaningful, measurable engagement – inspiring and empowering girls to explore STEM pathways. Take a look at the impact so far below and find out more on our website https://www.equans.co.uk/case-studies/girls-believe-academy.
At a recent roundtable held as part of our Equans Be Yourself campaign, our apprentices and early-career colleagues shared what truly makes a difference in those first career steps – feeling a sense of belonging, having visible role models, and being trusted with real responsibility from day one. The consensus was clear: when young people feel empowered to be themselves, they’re more confident to grow and contribute. Supporting early careers isn’t just about creating opportunities – it’s about creating the right environment for the next generation of talent to thrive. Discover the key highlights from the discussion below ⬇️
We’re now inviting applications to join our 2026 Graduate Scheme and Year in Industry cohorts at Equans. The Year in Industry placements, starting in August 2026, are designed for students in their penultimate year - offering 12-month placements with tailored training in Operations, Finance, Digital & Data, or Energy Engineering. Our two-year Graduate Scheme, starting in September 2026, offers rotations across six diverse pathways including Operational Management, Engineering, Finance, Digital & Data, Generalist, and HR, with placements lasting six to twelve months. Both programmes play an important role in how we develop future talent, helping the next generation gain the skills, insight and confidence to support our industry’s future. We're committed to creating a supportive work environment that empowers our people to thrive. This July, our colleagues are once again stepping up - for the annual Step Up challenge, aiming to collectively log as many steps as possible. This year, the initiative shines a light on the physical and mental health benefits of staying active. To mark the occasion, we’re proud to be donating to the British Heart Foundation - supporting their life-saving work across the UK. The Step Up challenge is just one of the many wellbeing initiatives we run to help unlock the full potential of our people.
