Did you catch Mr Doodle last week at Moosey contemporary art gallery in Norwich? We were delighted to loan a selection of TVs, coordinated through our Hall Road store, to help bring this fantastic exhibition to life. We love seeing our products used in creative projects, and we think the installation looked incredible.
We're proud to have partnered with influencer Hayley Rubery and The Purfleet Trust on a community housing project, donating and professionally installing essential appliances to help create a safe and welcoming home for women transitioning into independent living. Our team supplied and installed a fridge, oven, and washing machine, ensuring the property was ready for its new residents. It's been a privilege to support such a meaningful project, and we're grateful to Hayley and The Purfleet Trust for allowing us to be part of making a positive difference in our local community.
During the recent heatwave, the team at our Norwich Mason Road store donated 5 fans to the Critical Care Unit at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital to help keep patients and staff more comfortable during the warmer weather. We’re incredibly grateful to the ward staff for sharing this lovely photo with us, and we’re proud to support the amazing work they do every day. We hope the fans help everyone stay a little cooler over the summer months 💙
Recently, Steph from our Ipswich contact centre organised a fun Easter egg hunt for the team. Each person was given a set of riddles to crack, leading them around the building to discover their hidden egg. Mel also brought in some homemade treats, which went down well with everyone.
We’re proud to share that our Marketing Assistant, Jamie, has successfully completed his Level 4 qualification in Professional & Digital Marketing with The Chartered Institute of Marketing. Through the course, Jamie strengthened his expertise across content marketing, planning integrated campaign, marketing impact, and MarTech, and is excited to put these new skills into practice as he continues to grow in his role. We’re committed to investing in our people by supporting ongoing training and development, helping our teams build specialist knowledge and expand their skill sets.
Each day, team members in our Ipswich office receive a raffle ticket, and a winner is selected via our prize wheel. Prizes already awarded include a Sonos speaker and a set of headphones, with more exciting items still to come - rumour has it a TV and a vacuum are in the mix. Well done to our winners so far and good luck to all over the next 10 days!
A huge congratulations to Mark for an incredible 40 years with Hughes! Throughout his time with us, Mark has played a vital role at our Ipswich depot, taking on various roles and always going above and beyond for both his team and our customers. Thank you, Mark, for your loyalty and dedication over the years!
Walking for a Cause – Supporting The Benjamin Foundation At the end of last month, our Ipswich team took on a major walking challenge in support of The Benjamin Foundation. The goal? To raise both our step count and vital funds for this incredible charity. From a 10-mile walk between our Ipswich office and Felixstowe to taking shifts on the treadmill, our team showed great energy and commitment throughout the challenge. Team members across the company got involved - going on long walks, heading out for runs, and even squeezing in steps while on holiday in the sun. We’re currently in the final stages of tallying up our total step count and fundraising efforts - and we’re proud of the impact we’ve made so far. A big well done and thank you to everyone who took part!
Meet the newest members of the Hughes family! 🎉 We’re excited to introduce our latest characters – say hello to Sudz, ICE, Roasty Rose, and more! These fun appliance personalities are making their debut across our social media, website, in stores, and even on TV. Keep an eye out – you never know where they’ll pop up next! Hughes – At the Heart of Home Life.
Recently, one of our Ipswich contact centre advisors used her community day to support her daughter’s school on a trip to Suffolk One for the Skills Escalator Day, focused on future careers. The students took part in a variety of engaging workshops, including boxing, performing arts, IT and design, art, civil services, and more. The event gave them valuable insights into a wide range of industries and helped them understand the skills needed to pursue those career paths. Inspired by the experience, her daughter is now considering careers as a mechanic, police officer, or electrical engineer. We’re delighted to hear that this community day has made such a positive impact on Genevieve, her family, and the future aspirations of her daughter’s classmates.
