As part of our Enriching Life Plan, we're committed to reducing our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 67% by 2030, targeting net zero by 2040. Recently our first major installation of solar panels went live at our Stoke bakery where we make Mr Kipling products. They're forecast to produce around a quarter of the base requirements at the factory and more investment in solar generation is on its way for other manufacturing sites.
Exciting news: We are significantly expanding our presence in the breakfast category through the acquisition of FUEL10K, a vibrant breakfast brand. Featuring a portfolio of protein enriched granola, oats and drinks, this on trend range has real appeal with young consumers.
This month we welcome our new 2023 graduates, joining us across IT, Procurement, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations. The graduates are currently going through an induction plan which will cover HR, Wellbeing, ESG, site visits to Worksop R&D centre and Carlton, and a Skills workshop. Here they will learn about networking, tips on setting them up for success, overcoming mistakes and how to drive their own development. We wish them all the very best as they start their career with us!
We're taking part in WRAP's #FoodWasteActionWeek to raise awareness of the 4.5 million tonnes of food waste that is thrown away in the UK each year, 70% of it in consumers' homes. As one of the UK's leading food businesses we're committed to reducing our own food waste by half by 2030 as part of our Enriching Life Plan, and we're reviewing our manufacturing sites in collaboration with FareShare UK to support that. With our brands bought by 94% of households, we also have a role to play in helping people prevent food waste at home, so we're encouraging everyone to take the "Win. Don't Bin" quiz to get some tips 👉 https://lnkd.in/etDkwvqP #FoodWasteActionWeek #LoveFoodHateWaste #EnrichingLifePlan
Job role: Product Development Apprenticeship Programme: Food Industry Technical Professional level 6 Job role: 'I develop recipes for new and existing products under the Bisto brand.' Why Apprenticeship: 'I wasn’t interested in the ‘university experience’ and wanted to get stuck into work. My apprenticeship has been great for me as it is a better fit to my learning style than the traditional university route. I like to see the application and reason for studying the modules we cover at university, and I didn’t think I would get this experience through a conventional university course. I have also found apprenticeships give great exposure to different aspects of the industry, and you will be able to learn about different roles and departments over the course of your apprenticeship.' Cameron’s advice for individuals interested in an apprenticeship: 'I would say go for it! Keep checking the company and Government ‘find an apprenticeship website’ for vacancies and apply. Apprenticeships are a great route for those looking to apply their learning in real-world work'.
It’s National Mentoring Awareness month! At Premier Foods we know how powerful mentoring can be for colleagues in their learning & development journeys, which is why a key element of our Enriching Life Plan is to enrich life for our people, by creating an inclusive culture where colleagues can develop their own skills and talents, while feeling confident they can reach their full potential. In line with this commitment, we offer mentoring as part of our development programmes and talent management processes, with senior leaders mentoring colleagues across the business. We also launched a reverse mentoring scheme for all colleagues across our offices and the factory floor, as part of our Inclusion & Diversity journey. This month, we’ll induct our third cohort, as we look to build our capability as an organisation and help different generations learn from each other. Yesterday was International Volunteer Day! A perfect moment to celebrate all our colleagues who have volunteered in the local community since we launched our volunteering programme. In the last few months, our colleagues have been out collecting and sorting through much-needed food donations for our partner FareShare UK, or giving a helping hand in their local food banks. We know many of them also volunteer outside of work hours, continuing to be a force for good in their communities. As we strive to have a positive impact on our communities through our Enriching Life Plan, we encourage you all to volunteer if you can and use the #TogetherActNow to inspire others to do the same!
