Last week our ESG Director Nick Brown attended the Stoke Food Summit to share ideas and discuss working together with other local food companies, policy makers and community groups to help bolster the future of food in the area. Nick shared some of the great work our colleagues have been doing to help deliver on our purpose of Enriching Life Through Food at our two local sites, with community groups and with the nearly 50 local companies who provide us with products and services. #farmtofork
Supply Chain Solution of the Year! Huge congratulations to everyone involved in helping to reduce the environmental impact of our iconic Bisto gravy drum - a complex project which took first place at this year's UK Packaging Awards. The height reduction of each drum will save 40 tonnes of paper annually but required significant changes to our Bisto manufacturing line in Worksop. As well as replacing the sensors on the production line so that the shorter drums can be detected, our teams had to make alterations to the drum’s sealing and capping machines, all while increasing the serve size. Well done to our teams.
Last week, our ‘Sweet Treats’ team picked up a prestigious Co-op Pioneer award for being “Pioneers in succeeding together”. An award made extra special as it mirrors one of our own company values, ‘Being United’. Well done to all involved and thank you to the Co-op for a brilliant evening celebrating new, innovative ways of doing business.
A key element of our Enriching Life Plan is to enrich life for our people by creating an inclusive culture of entrepreneurship where they can feel confident that they can reach their full potential. To demonstrate our commitment to this, we are launching a reverse mentoring scheme to all interested colleagues across our business, whether they work in the office or on the factory floor. We want all of our colleagues to feel comfortable expressing their views and to build a senior network. From next month, all interested colleagues will be carefully paired with a mentor and attend a 12-week program full of opportunities to connect with colleagues across different functions to encourage collaboration and build cross-functional teams, including coaching sessions and forums.
