The Dynamic Flight Simulator (DFS) is a combination of a flight simulator and a centrifuge, featuring a large motor, a 30ft long arm and a two-degrees-of-freedom gondola where the pilot is placed. Operational since 2003 for research purposes and advanced acceleration training, the DFS has been upgraded with space flight profile abilities to simulate commercial space flights accurately. QinetiQ, including Inzpire Limited and Naimuri, and the University of Lincoln have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a partnership to develop a national Centre for Defence and Security Artificial Intelligence in Lincoln. The centre will serve as a hub of best practice, research and development and training for artificial intelligence (AI) applications in defence and security. It will also seek to educate both existing and future industry practitioners through hackathons, exchange programmes, scholarships, research frameworks and training.
