We are delighted to share that Queen Mary and QinetiQ have been awarded £2.6m by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to develop electromagnetic materials and innovations in wireless technology. One of ACE’s early commissions was to develop a proof of concept for improving UK airport security by minimising insider threats through a secure system to identify anyone who holds an airside access pass. Working with Vivace community companies Naimuri and BMT, this grew into a major piece of work over several years that has delivered an operational system successfully deployed in UK airports. It’s a good example of how ACE’s mission-focused approach of iterative experimentation and prototyping, coupled with close collaboration with customer stakeholders, enables development from early proof to live capability.
