As we approach International Women's Day (IWD) Softcat is excited to share our commitment to 'Inspire Inclusion,' this year's IWD theme. Our goal is to create a more inclusive world for women in all aspects of life ๐ Softcat has made significant strides towards gender equality, with women now representing 35% of our workforce, and 36% of our Senior Leadership - a strong indicator of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. This IWD, we're hosting a series of sessions throughout the week, highlighting the importance of supporting and celebrating women, including; ๐ An exploration of the challenges women face, with a focus on violence against women and girls. ๐ค The launch of our charity partnership with Smart Works, supporting women's confidence in the workforce. ๐ฃ๏ธ Workshops on unlocking your potential and the power of mentoring with Softcatโs Recruitment Manager, Elisha Kirkham. ๐ A very special event, in partnership with Lenovo, featuring author, charity founder and television presenter, Katie Piper as our guest speaker! This series of activities, alongside the wider IWD celebrations taking place across all our offices, are designed to promote an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. This February, Softcat proudly embraced LGBTQ+ History Month with an array of activities, under the banner of โMedicine #UnderTheScopeโ. We delved into the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in medicine, spotlighting both the achievements and the challenges they have faced. A highlight was our collaboration with the Terrence Higgins Trust in what was a brilliant session on the history and crucial work of THT, and the powerful stories shared by a 'Positive Voices' ambassador. We also shared insights from our own Pride Network and connected with students at National Student Pride, showcasing our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, and sharing our vision for an inclusive future. Last week we hosted our Apprentice Graduation Ceremony ๐ During the awards ceremony, we heard from our very own CEO, Graham Charlton, who spoke about the importance of our apprenticeship program. We then heard from Softcatโs Louis Way who spoke about his journey from Apprentice to SDP Regional Manager. To end our awards ceremony, we had the Apprentice Choice Awards where we recognised and celebrated the achievements of our people. We want to say a huge congratulations to the managers who have supported their apprentices over the last 18 months, and THE CLASS OF 2023 who have worked so hard to get to where they are today ๐

And thatโs a wrap on Softcatโs first Health and Wellbeing Week for 2024 ๐ This week is dedicated to our amazing people and is a time to connect with each other and prioritise our wellbeing. Highlights of the week included: ๐ฅ Olympic & European gold medallist Sam Quek, MBE joined us for an insightful Q&A session. ๐ฃ๏ธ A session with Ben Drakes from Ben Drakes University on tackling and avoiding burnout while working in sales. ๐งDaily activities in our offices ranging from mindful yoga sessions to tasty healthy breakfasts. ๐ป Online sessions for our people including โanti-desk yogaโ and how to achieve better sleep. We want to say a big thank you to our wonderful HR team and Health and Wellbeing representatives for organising another fantastic event.
On Friday we invited our furry friends into the Marlow office to celebrate our favourite day of the yearโฆ #DogDay! ๐ถ In between plenty of cuddles, our dogs enjoyed pampering sessions from local groomers and took part in the annual Softcat Dog Show where we awarded prizes to some lucky pooches. We have also been collecting donations for Stokenchurch Dog Rescue throughout the week which included bedding, toys and dog treats. Weโre already excited to welcome more dogs back to our offices next year!
Our wonderful employees and Love2Give network have come together to raise over ยฃ4500 for Children in Need 2023 ๐ BBCโs SPOTacular campaign aims to raise money for children across the UK who are experiencing various difficulties and is built on the belief that every child deserves a positive childhood. This year, weโre shining the spotlight on our Bristol office and the fundraising activities organised by our Love2Give network. Highlights included: ๐ Fancy dress, with #Barbenheimer being the theme of the day. ๐พ Team building activities such as competitive table tennis and pool tournaments. ๐ฐ A charity bake sale, which consisted of many tasty homemade treats. We may have uncovered a few secret bakers in the office! In addition to this, we hosted the semi-final of Softcatโs take on Mastermind which saw 16 employees across the business battle it out to reach the live final. Last week our Marlow office opened its doors to a group of talented young minds for a special event - Bring Your Child to Work Day. Themed "Workplace of the Future," this day was all about inspiring the next generation, and children aged between 7 and 12 joined their โSoftcat Seniorsโ for a peek into the world of 21st-century work. ๐ฉโ๐ผ๐จโ๐ผ The day kicked off with a warm welcome (and snacks of course!) before our little guests got stuck into various activities designed to spark creativity and imagination, including; ๐ค Robot Challenge ๐T Shirt Design Competition ๐ฎ Softcat of the Future planning But the real magic happened when they engaged with our fantastic employees, asking questions and gaining insights into their job roles and experiences. We were blown away by the teamwork, problem-solving skills, enthusiasm and inquisitiveness of our future leaders and hope the day played a small part in igniting a spark of curiosity in the hearts of our youngest Softcat enthusiasts.
