😢 It can be tough for young loves that find themselves hundreds of miles apart, having moved away to separate universities this year. 🔢 So we worked with mathematician Bobby Seagull and 72Point to come up with the perfect formula to help students' long-distance relationships thrive. 🔍 Supported by OnePoll research from 1,000 people in a long-distance relationship, we found that student couples typically only see each other three times a month. 💸 And they rack up almost £170 a month in travel costs to catch up with their loved one. 🚉 85% said they'd see their long-distance love more often if there were more affordable travel options, with the majority saying they travelled by train. 🚍 We all know student budgets are tight and clearly, those travel costs can really add up, so hopping on one of our coaches is often more affordable – particularly with students enjoying up to 25 per cent off! 💞 Our frequent, reliable, comfy coaches serve hundreds of destinations across the UK, so it means one less thing to worry about and students can make the most of their limited budget while enjoying more precious time with their long-distance love.
We're delighted to welcome Javier Martinez Prieto as our new Managing Director for UK Coach. With over 30 years' experience in public transport, his appointment comes as National Express and Alsa prepare to join forces in January 2026 to create a pan-European coach powerhouse for the future. The integration will combine market expertise and unlock strategic efficiencies under the leadership of Victor Lopez, General Manager, Alsa Spain and UK. Javier said: “I’m honoured to lead National Express at an exciting time for the business. Joining forces with Alsa unites two coach giants - each highly respected leaders in their respective UK and Spanish markets, and strengthening our ability to deliver a great transport service for our customers across the UK and Europe. “National Express is the UK’s number one scheduled coach operator, trusted and loved by millions of customers each year and I look forward to building on that success together with our incredible, highly-skilled team.” routeone Magazine has the story: https://lnkd.in/ejy3A-84
Well done to our three UK Bus Driver of the Year finalists - Chris, Carl and Lee - who competed in the national final in Blackpool yesterday 🚍 👏 With over 100 competitors across 27 different operators at the final this year, Lee from our Acocks Green depot was our highest scoring driver and placed 6th overall. Chris from our Pensnett depot was our second highest scorer, which is a brilliant result considering it was his first time competing. Congratulations to all three of our drivers for their achievements this year and, as always, a big thanks to our driver development team for their support and commitment toward the event and all of our drivers across the West Midlands!
